Remove authentication and use local storage to reduce friction and costs
For consumer apps, consider eliminating user accounts entirely by storing data locally on device. This removes signup friction and database costs. Data loss on device switching is rarely a concern in practice.
When to use
When building consumer mobile apps where data portability isn't critical and you want maximum conversion from install to active use
Don't do this
Adding authentication "just in case" which adds friction, reduces conversion, and increases infrastructure costs for marginal benefits
